Shri. K.T Jaleel, MLA from Thavanur is serving as Minister for Local Self-Governments, Welfare of Minorities, Wakf and Haj in the LDF led ministry.  Previously he was elected to Kerala Legislative Assembly in 2006 and 2011. He won 2016 Assembly elections as an independent candidate representing CPI (M). He is currently Associate Professor of History in P.S.M.O. College, Tirurangadi.
